California Gov. Gavin Newsom Weighs In on Some States Reopening

“Extra’s” Billy Bush recently FaceTimed California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has been leading the charge during the coronavirus pandemic.

Last month, Newsom was the first governor to issue a stay-at-home order for the Golden State. When asked about some states starting to reopen, Newsom said, “I’m looking forward to making those announcements… I’m more enthusiastic about getting to that point where we can… That said, I’ve got to be led not by any political pressure, by arbitrary date, or by the actions of another elected official across the country.”

He continued, “We are directed by only one thing, and that’s the [medical] data… science… and the threat of this virus. We’ve got to see a steady decline and then we’ll be in that position, and I hope it’s very, very soon.”
