Jay Shetty Shares 3 Steps to Creating a Daily Meditation

Storyteller, podcast host, and former monk Jay Shetty is sharing three steps to create a daily meditation habit, which helps relieve anxiety and stress and can even boost the immune system.

Step 1: Create a space in your home where you meditate. It could be a corner of a room, a cushion, or a comfy chair. Light some candles and find some relaxing, ambient music.

Step 2: Find a time in your day that you meditate. It could be first thing in the morning or the last thing before bed, or both.

Step 3: Start with a basic breathing practice. Place your left palm on your stomach, and breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. As you breathe in, feel your stomach go out, and as you breathe in, feel your stomach go in. You can breathe in for a count of four and out for a count of four, which aligns your body and breath. Alternatively, you can breathe in for a count of four and exhale for more than four, which really relaxes your body and mind.
