Jon Hamm Calls ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ a ‘Visual High Five,’ Plus: He Talks ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’

Actor Jon Hamm is one of the lucky few to get an early look at “Top Gun: Maverick.” The sequel was delayed until 2021, but Hamm and others involved with the film were able to see it at a socially distanced screening.

He opened up to “Extra’s” Renee Bargh about the movie, saying it is worth the wait. “We all walked out of that movie theater energized, which is saying something. The movie is a visual high five. It is a perfect blend of the nostalgia of the original and a continuation of the story and the visual elements in it. The aeronautics, the flight sequences are jaw-dropping, and of course Tom Cruise is Tom Cruise… I’m very excited for people to see it.”

Jon is also starring in the new movie “Wild Mountain Thyme,” which premieres in theaters and On Demand today. Hamm and the film’s director John Patrick Shanley chatted about what it was like filming the movie in Ireland. Watch!
