Tom Hanks on Why His ‘Da Vinci Code’ Character Is Unlike Any Other Action Hero

“Extra’s” Jerry Penacoli caught up with actor Tom Hanks at the press junket for his new film, “Inferno,” the sequel to “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons.”

Hanks reprises his role as Harvard University professor Robert Langdon in the film, which is based on Dan Brown’s best-selling novel. Suffering from amnesia, he must race against time and across Europe to stop the Inferno virus.

When Jerry asked if he feels he is the smartest action hero around, Tom responded, “Well, action heroes don’t get beat up as much as Robert Langdon does!” He quickly recanted, “Well, on occasion, but then they always come back and coldcock somebody. And I never get to coldcock anybody in these movies!”

When co-star Felicity Jones suggested, “You’ve got to speak to Dan,” Hanks quipped, “Can I not have a fistfight on the wing of a roaring airplane or something?”

“Inferno” hits theaters October 28!
