Gwen Stefani: 'My Life Basically Blew Up in My Face'

Singer Gwen Stefani opened up to Carson Daly on 97.1 AMP Radio today, talking about her life post-divorce… and those Halloween party pics with Blake Shelton.

While talking about her return to “The Voice,” she said, "My life is so extreme right now. My life basically blew up in my face. And now I'm in this new life, and it's pretty awesome I have to say -- I'm so inspired, and being back on the show, and just being in a new place. Everything just feels new. I just feel inspired. I don't know how else to describe it."

When Daly touched on the “traumatic experience” she went through while shooting the show, she interrupted, saying, "I feel like I'm going to throw up right now."

Daly quipped that maybe it was all the Halloween fun she had over the weekend, noting the pics of her and Blake Shelton at Jared Leto's party.

Gwen explained, "I was literally that party girl that you hear about when their life blows up, and you're like, 'Yeah! I'm going out! Like, watch me!' We're just trying to have fun. You know?"

Later, Carson asked if her divorce from Gavin Rossdale influenced her latest album. Stefani replied, "You just said the D-word on the radio! Wow... does anybody have a bucket? This is like, way more intense than I thought it was gonna be. I don't know. I'm just trying to explain it to everyone that this is crazy what's happening to me. Everybody that hears a song, and I don't have anything to hide. Everybody knows what my life was like before I was married. Could you imagine what my life is like now? It's crazy!"

She even recalled shedding tears as she began to try to write again. "On the way into the studio the first time, I didn't want to go. I wanted to be in my bed, like, crying. And I did, I cried all the way down to Santa Monica, driving to Santa Monica, and I was like, 'What am I doing? Why am I doing this?'"
