Reality Star Ashley Darby Welcomes First Child with Older Husband

On Sunday, Ashley, 31, welcomed a baby boy with husband Michael Darby, 59.

She posted a pic of herself on Instagram resting in a hospital bed while Michael holds the baby, captioning it, “I never thought this day would come… After watching the bump grow, my mind went to birthing day (WILL THIS REALLY HAPPEN?!). And when the day finally came that this sweet child came into our world, it felt like the sunniest day after a sky filled grey. The most sensational day of our shared life.”

Ashley hasn't revealed the name of her baby boy. A few months ago, she told People magazine that she and her husband were “going back and forth with names.”

She joked, “With an Australian man who tends to lean more towards the English side with his name choices, it's very interesting. He wants it to be a Phillip or an Elizabeth or something very regal. It needs a little bit of culture in there!”

Last month, Ashley and Michael celebrated their son's arrival at a baby shower. She wrote on Instagram, "So much joy!!! This mama to be is happier than anything in the world!! 😍😍😍 #RHOP #ashleydarby #michaeldarby."

Ashley announced that she was expecting in February. At the time, she told the outlet, “I'm so excited. When I used to hear people talk about having a child and the miracle of life inside you, I know that sounds great, but then to actually experience it? It's the most all-encompassing feeling ever. I never imagined I'd feel this much love… it's the pinnacle!”

Pointing out that “it was a surprise,” Ashley continued, “We found out in the beginning of November and I had just been healing out of it and I thought I was getting sick because of the change of season. I wasn't feeling too well. Something just told me to take the test, really not expecting a positive result. And then lo and behold, there were two solid lines.”

During the third season reunion of “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” Ashley opened up about her past miscarriages, saying, “I had one when I was in my early 20s, so now I'm worried if something is going on with my body. But I feel like it kind of brought us closer together in a way that I didn't really expect.”

She shared with People, “At the time, I didn't fully understand the magnitude of how it would affect us as a couple and as individuals because we kind of thought it would be a given that we would just be able to have children. But it was challenging.”

Michael is already the father of two adult children, 27 and 24. Ashley shared, “He understands the feelings of being a dad. It was so new to me, but he could help me through that.”
