Billie Eilish Reveals the Inspiration Behind Her Fairy-Tale Look at the Met Gala

Billie Eilish decided to go Old Hollywood glam for this year’s Met Gala!

The 19-year-old singer, known for her grunge style, looked like a princess in a peach Oscar de la Renta corset ball gown and layered blonde bob.

The dress was so big, she told “Extra’s” Cheslie Kryst, “I don’t know how we got here. I had to stand in the car, I had to just not breathe, as you do.”

Eilish also revealed the inspiration behind the look, saying, “I loved dresses growing up, like, all I did was wear dresses… had all my Barbies. I would take their dresses and admire them and wish that they were mine. I finally got to do that and kind of look how I always dreamed of looking when I felt confident enough to wear one.”

She also told Keke Palmer on the red carpet, “It just was time. It was time for this, and I feel like I’ve grown so much in the last few years.”

Billie added that Holiday Barbie was her "favorite thing in the world,” as a kid, adding, “I would ask for them for Christmas every single year. The dresses — genuinely, that was my inspiration.”

Eilish was one of the co-chairs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala alongside Timothée Chalamet, Naomi Osaka and Amanda Gorman.
