'SNL' Mocks Super Bowl Controversy: 'The Day Beyoncé Turned Black'

Featuring Melissa McCarthy hosting and Kanye West as the musical guest, this week's "Saturday Night Live" took on the racial controversy over Beyoncé's black-power-themed Super Bowl performance, provided a venue for West to perform two of his new songs from his forthcoming "The Life of Pablo" album, and offered a new celebrity impression guaranteed to return.

In a pre-filmed piece called "The Day Beyoncé Turned Black," many of the show's white cast members were shown reacting in shock over Beyoncé's single "Formation" and her Super Bowl theme, not having realized she was black. The skit unfolded like a horror movie, culminating with the revelation that more celebrities — even Kerry Washington — were rumored to be black.

Kanye's "High Lights" performance was another attention-grabbing group effort, involving Kelly Price, El DeBarge, The-Dream, and Young Thug.
