How Medical TV Shows Like ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘The Resident’ Are Doing Their Part to Fight Coronavirus

Medical TV shows are stepping up and helping hospitals and first responders in need amid the coronavirus outbreak.

It turns out many of the dramas have precious medical supplies like the gloves and masks that are in short supply right now.

Krista Vernoff, executive producer of ABC's “Grey's Anatomy” and “Station 19,” told “Good Morning America” in a statement, “At 'Station 19,' we were lucky enough to have about 300 of the coveted N95 masks, which we donated to our local fire station. They were tremendously grateful. At 'Grey's Anatomy,' we have a back-stock of gowns and gloves which we are donating as well.”

She added, “We are all overwhelmed with gratitude for our healthcare workers during this incredibly difficult time, and in addition to these donations, we are doing our part to help them by staying home.”

Meanwhile, “The Good Doctor” is looking to donate medical supplies to the local government in Vancouver, B.C., where they film the show.

NBC spokeswoman Sharon Pannozzo told The Chicago Sun-Times in a statement that “New Amsterdam” is also giving back, by donating “masks, gloves, gowns and other items to the New York State Department of Health to be utilized on the basis of highest need in connection with relief efforts in New York to help the community in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.”
