Rapper Megan Thee Stallion was rushed to the hospital in the middle of a performance of Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” on Tuesday night.
Megan fell ill while performing as nightclub owner Zidler at the Al Hirshfield Theater.
In a statement, a rep for the rapper said, "Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated. We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”
Megan’s hairstylist took to X to ask for prayers, writing, "Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital 🙏.”
According to the show’s official website, “The role of Zidler will not be played by Megan Thee Stallion at the April 1st performance."
On Wednesday, her rep gave an update, telling Variety, "On Tuesday evening, Megan was transported to a local hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms. Doctors ultimately identified extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels as the cause of her symptoms. Megan has since been treated, discharged and is now resting.”
According to her rep, Megan will return to the show on Thursday.
Megan made her debut in the show, just a week ago.
After nabbing the gig, Megan said, "I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively, and theatre is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace."
She added, “Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation, and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me."
