Having met on the set of “The Voice” in 2014, Shelton popped the question to his girlfriend of five years in Oklahoma, a source told "Extra."
On Tuesday, Stefani broke the engagement news with a kissing pic. Along with showing her engagement ring in the snap, she wrote on Instagram, “@blakeshelton yes please! 💍🙏🏻 gx.”
Blake shared the same photo, writing, “Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020... And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!”
Earlier this month, Stefani shared her response to people calling Blake her husband. She told “Extra's” Cheslie Kryst, “"Do you know how many people say my 'husband' about him? I guess we're just together. People got used to it or something like that. But it's pretty cute."
The pair have been the subject of engagement rumors for years.
Last year, Blake got an early engagement gift from Ellen DeGeneres, a clock that features a pic of him kissing Gwen. She explained her gift, saying, “So Jennifer Lopez was here and I wanted to help her out with A-Rod, because she wanted to marry him, obviously, like Gwen wants to marry you. And I gave her a clock that she could give to him, like, 'The clock is ticking, time is passing.' I gave her the clock, and literally a week later he proposed to her.”
After receiving the gift, Shelton joked, “So you're saying there's a chance she's gonna ask me to marry her, with this clock?”
Ellen has been known for joking with the couple about their romance. In a separate interview with Gwen last year, Ellen asked, “So Blake told me that y'all are engaged now,” Gwen responded, “No, he didn't. No, we're not. No, we're not. No, we're not.”
DeGeneres continued with her act, saying, “Yes, he told me you're engaged so let's talk about that.” Laughing, Gwen insisted, “We're not. We're not engaged, and we're not married. And he's my boyfriend still.”
Nearly two years ago, Blake dodged the engagement question. Playing coy on if there would be any special engagement announcement, he told “Extra's” Terri Seymour, “Yeah, she's doing a show, it's an important engagement, it's a New Year's party.”
In 2018, Stefani admitted she does think about possibly marrying Blake “all the time.” When asked if they would get married, Gwen played coy, telling Ellen, “So, if I say we are [getting married,] then I say we are, and if I say no, we're not, then that would be sad, too.”
