Kanye West’s Yeezy Brand Headed to the Gap, Plus: Why It’s a Full-Circle Moment

Surprise! Kanye West and the Gap just made a mega 10-year fashion deal.

The rapper is launching a new line at the retailer called Yeezy Gap, which is set to launch in early 2021.

Shoppers can expect the new line to “deliver modern, elevated basics for men, women and kids at accessible price points.”

The Gap also says, “West’s design vision will extend to unique YEEZY Gap expressions in Gap stores and digital channels over time.”

It is a full-circle moment for Kanye, who worked at the Gap as a teen in Chicago and rapped about the store in his 2004 song “Spaceship.”

Mark Breitbard, Global Head of Gap Brand, said, “We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his YEEZY brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership.”

That’s not all… back in 2015, Kanye boldly stated, “I’d like to be the Steve Jobs of Gap.”

Despite the fashion collab, Kanye will maintain full ownership of the YEEZY brand, which is reportedly worth $2.9 billion.
