Shaq Weighs In on New Rules for NBA as Basketball Returns Amid COVID-19
Former NBA player and current NBA broadcaster Shaquille O'Neal is weighing in on the news basketball is coming back with many new restrictions due to COVID-19.
The NBA is set to “re-start” their season in a bubble at Disney World Orlando. Players will not be permitted to go in and out of the area.
Shaq told “Extra's” Billy Bush, “It's going to be quite a different experience… Inside a bubble with 30 teams, you can't leave the campus, it will be difficult. Guys will be away from their families… I think it will be very difficult not to play in front of fans… People like me, we need that so we can play for something more than ourselves.”
As a commentator he said, “I'm going to do as much as I can to support it, and I wish all the players well, but it's definitely gonna be a different experience.”
Billy asked Shaq about the hot-button issue of wearing a mask in public. “I mask sometimes,” he said. “But I'm always a guy of the people… When I go out and the kids want to take a picture, I gotta take it off.”
Shaq is keeping busy during the pandemic, as a fan and franchise owner of Krispy Kreme, he is helping launch their new bite-sized packaged donuts. “Get them today at any Krispy Kreme, or Walmart,” he said.
