The singer confirmed the news on SiriusXM's "The Morning Mash Up," explaining how she adopted them from the foster care system last year.
“I actually adopted two sons last year,” she said. “They were both 18 — they're both 19 years old now. They were aging out of the foster care system. Yeah, and I love them.”
She went on to share how quarantine has been tough on the teens, saying, “They are both finding it pretty difficult, one more so than the other. But they're both doing things that are really good for them right now that are really helpful. They're really doing a lot of educational stuff that's good for them.”
She briefly mentioned becoming a mom in a GQ article earlier this year, when she noted, “I just adopted a son. I don't have time for a relationship.” She did not, however, expand on her growing family.
The 44-year-old also tweeted about adoption last year as she tried to reach out to a teenager named Dasani, who was featured in the HBO documentary “Foster.”
In a now-deleted tweet, she wrote, “Hey Dasani from 'FOSTER' on HBO! I'd like to adopt you. We're just trying to find you and get my house check done etc. But I want you to know you will have a home with me.” It has not been confirmed whether Dasani is one of the boys she adopted.
