It was another emotional night on “American Idol,” especially for expectant mom Katy Perry.
After the show, "Extra’s” Renee Bargh spoke with Katy Perry, who was moved by the contestant's Mother's Day tributes. She told Renee, “Hearing what they say to their moms. when moms cry, I start crying. And it's this effect. They cry. I cry. They see me cry and then they cry more and I cry more cause I see them crying. It never ends. It's just like a cry party.”
What about those rumors that she’s collaborating with Taylor Swift on her new album? She played coy, saying, “Well, you're just gonna have to tune in to 'Idol' next week if all rumors are true or false.”
Joined by her fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, Perry pointed out about her finale performance next week, "What I can tell you is…We had plans to do different things a couple months ago and had to pivot… I’m really excited personally, my team and I have come up with a really innovative way to perform my new song ‘Daisies.’”
When Renee expressed her excitement, Katy smiled, saying, “My new song. I'm not gonna have a live birth on 'American Idol.'”
Lionel quipped, “Wow, that would be... we could have ratings!”
Wearing a Cult Gaia turband and Mira earrings, Katy added, “The producers would love that.”
During the show, Katy also gave a pregnancy update to host Ryan Seacrest. She revealed, “I don't know what it is to be a mother, although I’ve always felt very motherly to my friends and my fans, but I know I’m about to step into the next level. I even have a bump. She’s kicking, too. She kicks when the performances are good. So just let them be good but not too good because it’s painful!"
Katy also shared a sonogram of her baby girl as she celebrated her first Mother’s Day as an expectant mom. She wrote on Instagram, “When your unborn daughter gives you a middle finger from the womb you know you’re in for it #happymothersdaytome😳.”
Earlier in the day, Katy’s fiancé Orlando Bloom showed her some love on Instagram. He wrote on Instagram, “💛happy days to all the mums out there and to my marvelous mamma to be❤️.”
As for who will win “American Idol, Lionel and Luke noted that it will be a tough call. Luke commented, “They all really jockey.” Lionel shared, “Stand on their own.” Luke went on, “They all have first place sealed up at some point.”
