Tim Allen Gave Tom Hanks a Bit of 'Toy Story' Advice After Tom's COVID-19 Diagnosis
Tim Allen is managing quarantine with some humor.
“Extra's” Billy Bush caught up with Tim via Zoom to learn more about the season finale of his show “Last Man Standing “
He also gave an update on his friend Tom Hanks, who was one of the first celebrities to reveal his coronavirus diagnosis. Billy asked, “Have you spoken to your 'Toy Story' co-star, great friend Tom Hanks, who is absolutely a legend of coronavirus? I found him to be extremely comforting at a time when we were really all very anxious.”
Tim replied, “Yeah, I did… He was just like you said — it's just like Hanks to be that way.” Allen added, “I wrote him and said, 'You should have worn the Buzz Lightyear protective suit, and then you wouldn't have gotten into that trouble. You put the bubble down.'”
As for “Last Man Standing,” the cast and crew were scrambling when production was shut down before they could shoot part two of the finale. “Both episodes were supposed to team up at the very end about the birth of a kid," Tim revealed, "and we're going to have to push it off to next season”
He went on to say, “Kaitlyn Dever comes back for our last episode — it's really, it's a huge deal.”
Billy asked, “So, the finale of Season 8 will really be the premiere of Season 9?” and Tim allowed, “If it works for the story.”
Allen is an avid car collector like his fellow stand-up comedian and good friend Jay Leno, but has he been out driving much since the lockdown?
“The exotic cars I collect I don't drive that much,” he said. “I'm a motorcycle guy. I've been out a bunch, but what's really peculiar… I talked to my buddy Leno… and for stand-up comics like myself, it's a little daunting to think of… When can you imagine being in a group of people laughing out loud next to another person [again]?”
Watch “Last Man Standing” tonight at 8 p.m. on FOX.
