Before accepting his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2020 SAG Awards, Hollywood legend Robert De Niro spoke with “Extra’s” Renee Bargh on the red carpet.
The calm and collected De Niro, who has been acting since 1963, said he was feeling “okay” ahead of the show.
In De Niro's opinion, what are his greatest achievements? He said, “My kids are one of my greatest achievements... especially if they turn out okay, happy, doing what they want — that’s all good.”
During his illustrious acting career, the 76-year-old has starred in hit movies like “Taxi Driver,” “The Godfather Part II,” “Analyze This,” “Meet the Parents,” “Goodfellas,” and “The Silver Linings Playbook.”
De Niro's film “The Irishman” has earned rave reviews and received several nominations this award season. He commented, “It’s great… You hope for that kind of reaction.”
The living legend also appeared in “Joker” with Joaquin Phoenix, who took home Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. Praising his co-star, Robert raved, “I think he did a great job. He’s a wonderful actor, totally committed to that role… He was terrific, he is terrific.”
We’ll have to wait and see if Joaquin takes home the Best Actor at the 2020 Oscars, for which he is nominated.
