Richard Gere had a New York night out with his co-stars at the premiere of “Three Christs.”
The movie is based on the true story of a doctor who examined three paranoid schizophrenic patients who each believed they were Jesus Christ. Gere plays the doctor, Milton Rokeach, and opened up to “Extra” about why he was drawn to the project.
“Just the idea, putting three Christs together in a room, trying to figure out… Experimenting with another kind of therapy… and I said, ‘Okay, well, how is this doctor going to do it? How is he going to be as vulnerable as they are in the situation? Because that will be the healing process, is making human connection.”
Gere, who turned 70 over the summer, added, “I can’t believe it." Sharing his secret to staying young, he said, “Don’t pay any attention to it.”
He added, “having young kids, too, helps.” The actor is expecting his second child with wife Alejandra Silva this year.
