Prince Philip has been hospitalized just ahead of the holidays.
The 98-year-old reportedly traveled from Norfolk to King Edward’s VII’s Hospital in London for an appointment for a pre-existing condition, but is now being kept for a few days.
Buckingham Palace told NBC News, "The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness' Doctor.”
Queen Elizabeth II will remain in Sandringham, where she traditionally celebrates Christmas.
In 2017, Philip was hospitalized due to an infection related to a pre-existing condition. He was also in a car accident in January 2019, but was uninjured.
The Prince, who retired from royal duties in 2017, was last spotted at Balmoral Castle in August.
