Former reality star Jon Gosselin is breaking his silence on ex-wife Kate now that a 10-year gag order has finally been lifted.
The exes are the parents of 19-year-old twins Cara and Mady, and 15-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Collin, Joel, Alexis, Hannah and Leah. The Gosselins split in 2009 after 10 years of marriage while still filming their TLC reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8.” Jon currently has custody of Hannah and Collin.
Jon appeared on "The Dr. Oz Show," where he blasted Kate and her “twisted belief system.”
According to E!, Dr. Oz asked if Jon thought Kate was an “unfit mother,” he replied, “Well, I believe that her belief system is skewed. That’s what I believe. I believe her intentions, in the beginning, were good intentions. Bringing kids into the world that she fought to have, these kids. But I think once fame and money got involved, it twisted her belief system. On my end, I’ve been fighting to get my kids off TV forever.”
Taking on theories that it was the show that drove the couple apart, Jon said he thinks they would have eventually split “because of personality.”
“It would have fizzled out anyway, because we, first of all, I got married at 22 years old — you just don't know,” the star explained.
During the split, Jon refused to continue filming and was sued for breach of contract. Jon said, “I literally hung a sign on my gate saying, 'If any crew members show up I’ll have you arrested for trespassing.' They [TLC] sued me for breach of contract. I pretty much bankrupted myself, but I did it for moral reasons, obviously.”
He went on, “I’ve spent $1.7 million in lawyers fees from when TLC sued me and the divorce,” adding, “TLC paid for [Kate’s] attorneys in the lawsuit and for her divorce.”
When Kate decided to star in a new reality show called “Kate Plus 8,” Jon said he didn’t understand at first, but now he does.
“All she wanted was legal custody to film my kids to sustain her lifestyle and their lifestyle,” he claimed. “It gets all warped. That’s fame though. It just twists things around.”
What is Jon and Kate’s relationship like now?
“We don’t have a relationship right now,” he said. “We don’t talk, nothing… the only time I see my ex-wife is in court. Because we’ve exhausted all opportunities to co-parent, like it is just never going to happen, due to personality disorders and everything else. We just have different aspects on how we want to parent. Moving forward… my twins are 19 years old now and my sextuplets are almost 16 so we are moving down the path of two more years we are going to have all adults.”
In a preview, Jon claims that Kate has a “narcissistic personality disorder” and that he has “PTSD.”
TLC has not responded, but Kate told People in a statement, "I have consistently made it a rule never to respond to Jon's delusional ramblings, and I will not break that rule now. However, at some point soon, I look forward to making sure the absolute truth about our family is known."
