On Thursday, actress Sarah Jessica Parker, 54, recreated an iconic “Sex and the City” moment by wearing mismatched shoes to the 2019 New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala.
Parker paired her Zac Posen gown with two different-colored strappy heels from her shoe collection. One heel was hot pink to match her dress, while the other was yellow.
In the third season of “Sex and the City,” SJP’s character Carrie Bradshaw went to Los Angeles, where she wore a white minidress with two different-colored heels.
A few months ago, Sarah explained why her character wore mismatched shoes for the episode. She said, “We had two pairs of what I believe are Louboutin [strappy] sandals. Pat [Field, costume designer] and I chose to do one of each. Perhaps because both were so delicious in color and seemed in harmony with the dress but also because we simply loved doing one of each.”
The show’s costume designer Pat Field added, “[Sarah Jessica Parker] and I decided to use one of each because we could not choose which one was best and they were both perfect with the dress.”
Earlier this year, another famous Sarah did the same thing… Sarah Paulson hit the “Glass” premiere in NYC in mismatched shoes!
The star looked ravishing in a red dress paired with strappy red heels that appeared to be two different shoes… one with a red strap across her toes, the other adorned with crystals.
Upon closer inspection, however, it's clear that the gorgeous shoes were actually a pair made to look slightly mismatched.
Nicole Kidman made headlines at the 2017 Emmys when she wore a similar pair of AW17 sandals by Calvin Klein, and Naomie Harris rocked a yellow pair at the Oscars the same year.
