UPDATE: Kevin Hart has undergone successful back surgery, TMZ reports. Sources tell the site that the operation took place Sunday, and he will likely be hospitalized for at least a few days as he recovers. His wife Eniko also broke her silence, telling the site that Kevin is “great,” adding, “He's going to be just fine. He's good. Everybody's good, thank God. … He's fine. He's awake.” When asked if he is back to laughing and joking, she said, “Nah.”
Comedian Kevin Hart was in a major car accident around 1 a.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The star was a passenger in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when the vehicle veered off the road and into a ditch off Mulholland Drive in the Malibu Hills. Authorities say the driver was “not under the influence of alcohol.”
Hart and the driver reportedly suffered “major back injuries,” while a third passenger, a woman, did not require medical treatment.
A photo of the car obtained by "Extra" show significant damage, and the roof crushed.
TMZ says that Kevin's security team picked him up from the scene and took him to his nearby home, but he was eventually taken to a hospital.
The Barracuda was reportedly Kevin's 40th birthday present to himself back in July.
