Ten years after the OG MTV reality series, “The Hills” signed off, they are back with “The Hills: New Beginnings.”
Many of the original cast members are returning, plus some new faces. Most noticeably missing... main cast members Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari, who will not be part of the series.
“Extra” spoke with the cast at their premiere party in Los Angeles, where they dished on the new show.
Heidi Pratt weighed in on Lauren’s decision not to come back, commenting, “I think that she's in a different place.” When the original was airing, Lauren was in her twenties and hadn’t started a family with husband William Tell.
Heidi is shooting the show with her husband Spencer and their son Gunner. She noted, “It's fun to be back together where it all started.”
Whitney Port revealed she misses Conrad, saying, “I definitely miss Lauren most of my experience on the show was with Lauren so for me it's very different.”
Audrina Partridge didn’t feel the same way, explaining, “To be honest, it's not that big of a hole with Lauren not coming back just because she wasn't really on the old 'Hills' the last two seasons.”
The newly divorced mom reunited with her old flame Justin Bobby for the series, even going out on a date. She teased, ”When we started filming yeah we went on our first date in I don't know how long and you guys will have to see what happens from that point forward.”
Brody Jenner, who dated both Lauren and Kristin in the '00s, emphasized, “Look... we would've... if [Lauren] wanted to do it, awesome, if not, I think that our cast, we did a great job of holding it down, for sure. We would've loved to have had Kristin Cavallari. I know that she kind of was playing with the idea of wanting to do it. but she had the E! show, so she couldn't do it. You know, we would've loved to have had them... but we're good.”
The original series was on the air from 2006-2010. Before that, Lauren and Kristin starred in “Laguna Beach,” which made them familiar faces in the reality world.
Brody’s wife Kaitlynn and Mischa Barton are also joining the crew in the new series. Kaitlynn dished, “[Mischa]'s really sweet and she's so interesting.”
“The Hills: New Beginnings” premieres on MTV Monday, June 24.
