Duchess Meghan Markle’s half brother, Thomas Markle Jr., was arrested on Friday in Oregon, TMZ reports.
Oregon State Police pulled over the 52-year-old around 1:30 a.m. He was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test and blowing a .11.
Thomas was taken to the Grants Pass Sobering Center and his Chevy Silverado was impounded.
Meghan’s brother famously wrote an open letter to Prince Harry before the royal wedding to tell him “It’s not too late. Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you.”
Despite the warning letter, Thomas recently told DailyMail.com he planned to invite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to his own wedding in March, when he plans to wed Darlene Blount in Reno or Las Vegas.
He hoped that despite an estranged relationship between Meghan and his side of the family that his nuptials would bring them closer.
“Absolutely I think our wedding will bring the family closer together," Thomas told The Daily Mail when asked if he'd be extending an invite to his half-sister. "It’s hopeful that if Meghan and Harry came and my father, Meghan and Harry could spend some time together with him and that would be good."
Meghan is the daughter of Thomas Markle Sr. and Doria Ragland. Thomas Sr., who often makes headlines for speaking out about his famous daughter, is also the father of Thomas Jr. and 54-year-old Samantha.
