Last night, it was date night for Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-lee Furness as he premiered his latest movie, “The Front Runner,” in New York City.
“Extra’s” AJ Calloway spoke with the couple on the red carpet, where they opened up on his 50th birthday bash. He recently made headlines since two of his friends, first daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, attended the epic party. Deborra-lee pointed out that Ivanka and Jared have been friends with the Jackmans for some time, saying, “For a very long time. She's a very good friend.”
Other A-listers in attendance included fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett. Hugh shared, “A lot of dancing…We danced a lot.”
Deborra-lee added, “Partied... for 50-year-olds till two in the morning.” Hugh noted, “At one point, every woman in the party was on top of this table. How? I mean, it was... it was... yeah, it was one of those... parties where your kids are like, 'This is the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen.'”
His wife smiled, teasing, “And you'll never see the pictures.”
In “The Front Runner, Hugh plays disgraced politician Gary Hart, who was on track to win the 1988 Democratic nomination for the presidency until his extramarital affair was revealed. Hugh said, “What the situation or scandal was back then, today would be nothing, you know, and I think if you're anything like me, regardless of whether he became president or not, I think it's sad that Gary's voice was lost to public life. He's an incredibly smart man.”
He continued, “I'm really proud of the movie… It was something really challenging, really new for me.”
“The Front Runner” is in theaters November 21.
