Mary Lou Retton & Shannon Kelley Split After 27 Years

“Dancing with the Stars” contestant Mary Lou Retton and husband Shannon Kelly have divorced after 27 years of marriage.
Retton, a retired Olympic gold medalist, opened up about the split to her dance partner Sasha Farber in a “DWTS” sneak peek posted on People.com.
“I went through a divorce. People don't know that. It's the first time I've actually said it publicly,” she said.
Mary Lou later added that the divorce from Shannon, a former quarterback, was finalized in February, calling the split “very new.”
She told Farber it was hard and she felt very alone at times, but her daughters, Shayla, 23, McKenna, 21, Skyla, 18, and Emma, 16, had loved her unconditionally through the breakup.
The 50-year-old former gymnast said joining “DWTS” was a new beginning for her, saying, “When I walked in here, I knew I was starting over, and I was scared. But now, I know I'm starting over, but I'm excited. There's that mental switch.”
