"Shameless” star Emmy Rossum is empowering others with the I Weigh movement!
On Wednesday, Rossum took to Instagram to ask, “want to know what I weigh? Click on my stories. @i_weigh BECAUSE YOU AE SO MUCH MORE THAN A NUMBER.”
In an Instagram story, Emmy revealed, “During my life the scale has told me that I’ve gained and lost and gained and lost. Somewhere in the range of 20 pounds. But that piece of metal doesn’t really know. Here’s what I ACTUALLY WEIGH.”
In the next Instagram story, the 31-year-old shared a photo of herself in workout gear with unique qualities that actually hold some weight to her. She wrote, “3 best friends since kindergarten, drive, kindness, empathy, makes friends with strangers, Jewish and proud, daughter, 100+ hours of television, the courage it takes every day to overcome ptsd, one happy marriage, 3 episodes of television, countless hours of therapy, one finished screenplay, animal rescuer.”
She pointed out, “The size of your thighs really don’t matter anymore do they?!”
Last week, Emmy opened up on her struggles when she weighed 119, just after Kim Kardashian revealed that she now weighs 119. In response to Steph Beatz’s concerned Instagram posts about Kim K’s weight, she wrote, “the only time I was 119 pounds is when I had MONO. On a magazine shoot everyone was ‘freaking out over how good’ I looked. I had lost 10 pounds and was gaunt and sick and felt faint… It totally messed with my head. I love you and I’m with you.”
Emmy also offered some words of encouragement to those struggling with a negative body image. She emphasized, “You never know what someone is going through. If you’re having a tough time with body image, I promise you’re beautiful and this feeling will pass. Today is just a moment. Practice some self-care and reboot. Take a bath. Take a walk. Take a yoga class. Make a healthy nutritious meal and watch your favorite funny movie. Tomorrow is another day.”
