Earlier this morning, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Colorado baker, Jack Phillips, who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple due to his religious beliefs.
The 7-2 ruling noted that the Colorado Civil Rights Commission did not take into account Phillips' religious beliefs, violating his First Amendment rights.
In response to the ruling, famed chef Sandra Lee wrote on Instagram, “I do not believe that it is right to discriminate against anyone. I believe love is love. Therefore if a same sex couple has been turned down by the bakery of their choice, I will find a baker who appreciates your commitment and loves you for who you are.”
Donald Trump Jr. tweeted, “I am reading about a 7 - 2 vote. Pretty sure that's not narrowly... At least 2 dem leaning justices must have agreed.” He was reacting to reports of a "narrow ruling," which refers to the scope of the ruling, not the vote margin.
