The Cars rocker Ric Ocasek and wife Paulina Porizkova have called it quits after 28 years of marriage.
Paulina announced the separation on Wednesday, writing on Instagram, “Ric and I have been peacefully separated for the past year.”
Along with pointing out that they are “no longer a couple,” Paulina added, “Our family always has been -- and still is -- a well-built car. When the four of us are together, we can go wherever the road takes us. But as a bicycle, my husband and I no longer pedal in unison. So, we're ditching the bicycle."
One month before the announcement, Paulina, 53, showed her support for Ric, 74, at the Cars’ induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She emphasized, “The love we have for one another is so wide and deep it’s practically tangible, and that sort of love can never disappear. Expect to keep seeing happy family photos.”
Ric and Paulina met in 1984 on the set of the music video for The Cars’ song “Drive.” They tied the knot five years later.
