Joe Manganiello Explains Why Sofía Vergara Was Already on His Mind Before They Dated

Actor Joe Manganiello is one half of Hollywood's hottest couple, married to TV's highest-paid actress, Sofía Vergara. Joe sat down with “Extra's” Renee Bargh at an NFL apparel event at Levi's Haus of Strauss in L.A. to chat about working with Sofía and his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The two are only a month away from their second wedding anniversary! Joe revealed that he wanted to work with Sofía on his new film, the Minor League baseball drama “Stano,” even before they got together! “I read the script before I met her… and I remember when I read it, I thought to myself.. I think this would be a really good role for that SofíaVergara… I really think like this would be a side of her and a dramatic role that I really don't think that people would see her doing or see her as on her show every week, but I think she would knock this out of the park, and then we wound up getting married and did not want to work together because you just don't want to, you know you don't want to put it out there that way.”

Joe ended up hiring his wife after she read the script, saying, “She had tears in her eyes and was like, 'This is so good and I have to do this.'”

As for what fans will see, he teased, “People love her anyway, no matter what she does. It's a really great heartfelt role for her. We have a nice chemistry together on screen, it's fun.”

Sofía is looking stunning at 45, even posing naked on the cover of Women's Health. He gushed, “She works hard at it, she really does.. she works out really, really hard, I'm very proud of her.” But the couple doesn't necessarily work out together... why? He explained, “We do very different things in the gym… no, I like the weights. I like the heavy weights.”

Manganiello also helped the NFL showcase this season's line at a Levi's Haus of Strauss event in L.A. where fans could incorporate their own style with denim jackets. For him, it is all about his hometown team the Pittsburgh Steelers.
