Luke Bryan on His Conversation with Jason Aldean After Horrifying Las Vegas Shooting
“Extra's” AJ Calloway was with the new judges of “American Idol” — Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan — as they made their first official appearance together to promote the ABC reboot!
The group is ready for the new season as the first rounds of auditions begin, but admitted it is with heavy hearts as the nation deals with the mass shooting in Las Vegas.
Luke Bryan is especially close to the situation since his friend and fellow country music star Jason Aldean was on the stage when shots rang out. Luke shared, “I talked to Jason the morning that it happened… he and I and a bunch of our friends, we have a group chain, we talk all the time and he said, 'Man, pray for us today… What I have seen I will never unsee.'”
"It is heartbreaking," Luke said, "and the fact that it is a country music thing… When a show like that is planned, it's planned for these fans' experiences. Now we have to be artists in a world where we have to make sure we protect our fans. We are all at risk. I had friends from back home, I had buddies calling saying, 'Man, be careful out there and I love you.'”
Jason's wife Brittany Kerr shared her own account of what she saw in Las Vegas, writing on Instagram on Tuesday, "As we laid behind equipment onstage with some of our road family, bullets flying past … all I could think was, 'I never even got to hold my baby.'"
