'AGT' Judges Weigh In on Mel B Divorce and Tyra Banks as Host
It was back to work for the “America's Got Talent” crew today. The judges and new host Tyra Banks hit the red carpet to celebrate the latest season of the hit NBC competition series.
Mel B looked fabulous in a sequined jumpsuit, making her first public appearance since filing for divorce from her husband of 10 years, Stephen Belafonte, earlier this month. Mel B did not talk to reporters, posing with fans instead. “Extra's” Terri Seymour did talk to her fellow judges about how Mel is doing.
Howie Mandel, gushed over Mel, “I adore Mel, I love her, my heart goes out to her… She is strong, she is independent, she brought that girl power to life, she is such a good mom and such a wonderful daughter, you know she lost her father… It is amazing watching someone who is going through a tough time with such poise, she has been on point, she has been right there and she has been the consummate professional,” he continued, “Her heart is broken, but her professionalism and spirit are right intact.”
Heidi Klum added, “Mel has had a tough week, but she is hanging in there. She has support. I love her dearly — we pick each other up.”
Simon Cowell said, “She is doing fine. Mel really is a trouper. That's a hard thing to go through. We have spoken a lot about it and she's coping.”
The other hot topic on the carpet was Nick Cannon leaving the show and Tyra Banks taking over the hosting duties for Season 12.
Howie Mandel said, “She's already a star. She certainly deserves to be here. You wouldn't think she is the new kid on the block — she brings it!” Howie said he has spoken to Nick and he is happy with his decision.
Heidi is excited to be working with Tyra, as they worked together in the modeling world. “We are a very warm and fuzzy family, so we are happy she is here.”
Simon praised Tyra, saying, “She's doing good, I like her… She really likes me and I like her.” He does, however, miss Nick. “He sent me a very nice bottle of champagne. I do honestly think we will end up maybe not being on a show together, we will produce something together.”
