Before killing it as the emcee, James Corden admitted he was nervous to host the show. “I'm just ready to try and not ruin the whole thing… Right now, I am just trying to not throw up. I thought I was gonna cry at the dress rehearsal.” He added, “I have to remember to breathe.”
Chrissy and John Legend were starstruck by Lady Gaga, who killed it on the carpet in a revealing black top and hot shorts. Chrissy tried to compose herself, saying, “God, I love her so much!” The couple, big Hillary Clinton supporters, loved the latest episodes of “SNL.” Chrissy said, “Melissa McCarthy is killing it. When she started going crazy on the podium, we were dying… Alec is doing a great job.” John added, “They're doing a great job. We need a little humor right now — we need more than humor, but humor helps.” Chrissy chimed in, saying, “Humor and Jesus.”
Country royalty Tim McGraw and Faith Hill gave us all relationship goals when talking about Valentine's Day. Tim gushed, “Well, I got plans. For us, the best thing to do is to hang out by the fireplace and watch a movie.”
Keith Urban, who went to the show without wife Nicole Kidman, said, “I'm solo tonight — it's heartbreaking.” His superstar wife missed it because, “She was nominated for a BAFTA in London on the exact same night." Conflicting awards shows "never happened, ever in 11 years" for the couple, Keith said.
Presenter Céline Dion wished she were taking the stage, saying, “I wish I could perform. I'm ready.” Excited for Queen Bey and her impending arrival of twins, Dion — a mama of multiples herself — said, “I don't know how many months is she or how big. I was, like, 65 pounds bigger. I was a little bit scared to move with twins. Every time I performed, I was scared to lose my babies, so I didn't want to move too much... They're gonna kick all over the place in her belly, but if somebody can do it, she can, so I can't wait.”
Demi Lovato was excited for what the show would bring. “It's really hot right now, so I'm sweaty—- other than that, I'm excited. It's always a little stressful, but it's fun.” As for who she was looking forward to seeing, Lovato shared, “Adele and Beyoncé and Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga and Metallica — everybody.” Though she is rumored to be dating Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos, she commented that she has no Valentine's Day plans.
Katy Perry, sporting a new blonde 'do, told Tracey, “Well, it was the last color i could draw from in the wheelhouse — it was like final destination. 'I'll do blonde now, I guess.'”
She was on hand to perform her new single “Chained to the Rhythm" and sporting a band with the word "resistance" on it. "I feel like I'm kicking off a new era of something called 'purposeful pop,' and it's exciting. I feel likeI found my voice more than ever and have a responsibility and am actually happy to have that responsibility. I don't know all the answers and I still don't get it right, but I know basic human needs and rights and I operate out of kindness and empathy, and I can talk about that.”
Finally, Carrie Underwood, dazzling in red, admitted she doesn't know much about the latest rumors about a new 'American Idol,' but she “supports” the show that made her famous.
