‘Hurt’ Mariah Carey Puts on Brave Face for First Performance After James Packer Split
Last night, Mariah Carey performed for the first time after the news of her breakup with James Packer.
Carey made an appearance at Toronto's annual Hudson's Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue holiday window unveiling, where she sang her classic hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
Though she was able to perform like nothing happened, a source told People magazine Mariah is still struggling with the broken engagement, saying, “First the split didn't seem to faze Mariah. It was like she expected things to be fine soon. Now she realizes that things aren't fine and not being with James makes her depressed. She is very hurt that he dumped her.”
Mariah is reportedly using her work obligations to keep her mind off the split. The insider explained, "[Mariah] doesn't want to sit at home and dwell on it.”
Rumors are swirling that Packer was having second thoughts about the wedding during their trip in Greece in September. A source told Us Weekly, "It was like Jekyll and Hyde. Suddenly he's like, 'I don't think I can do this.'"
The two got engaged in January after they began their romance in June last year.
