Shocking Details on Mariah Carey & James Packer’s Broken Engagement
Last week, Mariah Carey and James Packer shocked the world with their split... but was she blindsided by it?
Carey was reportedly dumped by Packer “out of nowhere” and found out about the split through the press. A source told E! News, "The split has been devastating for Mariah. She loved James and was planning to marry him… She made life changes for this man to prepare for their future as husband and wife, even relocating to L.A., at James' request, so he could be closer to his children. Everything she has done over the past year is to prove how fully committed she is to their life together. She really wanted this to work. And then, completely out of the blue, it imploded.”
Rumors are swirling that Mariah and James faced some troubles in Greece in September and were supposed to meet up in Los Angeles to hash things out and “talk through everything as adults.” Though they reportedly set up a time to meet last week, that never happened. A source said, "Mariah and James never met up after that and they haven't spoken. The way the split news was handled was incredibly upsetting to her.”
Just a month before their trip to Greece, Packer reportedly sent loving emails to Carey, according to TMZ. In one email, Packer wrote, "I'm in love with you and can't wait to get married and be together forever. There's a song I'm listening to now that's got lots of meanings and I hope it makes u smile. When you get caught between the moon and New York City best that you can do is fall in love.”
He went on, "All my love, laughter, light, respect and appreciation and admiration ... Thank you my fiancee and soulmate.”
Since the split, Carey has been spotted heading out for dinner with friends and her backup dancer Bryan Tanaka, who has been making headlines for his close relationship with the diva.
A source shared, "Right now they are just close friends. I can't promise things won't develop between them one day, who knows. But right now, the stories out there are an exaggeration and they definitely feel like a convenient ploy to make this whole mess look like her [Carey's] fault.”
