Queen Latifah joined “Extra” at our Times Square studio in New York City where she shared a sneak peek of her new show, “Star,” brainchild of hit TV show "Empire" creator Lee Daniels.
What can we expect from “Star”? “Basically [it’s] about this girl group, these three young girls,” she said. “Two of them kind of come from the different side of the tracks and I made music with their mom who’s no longer alive and I’ve been trying to find them.”
Also starring Lenny Kravitz and Benjamin Bratt, the show promises to include some of Latifah’s own vocals. “Yeah, we going to be singing in this one,” she admitted. “But I love it ‘cause it’s not something I get to do every day, being challenged musically.”
Another new project is Latifah’s Queen Collection Flowers. “It’s something you can buy and feel beautiful, that’s of high quality and so that’s what these flowers are,” she said, proudly. “The tags have, like, inspirational sayings on them, things I may have said throughout my career or my personal life.”
