In Touch magazine reports that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were granted temporary guardianship of an 8-year-old boy.
The child is the son of Michelle's niece Rachel Hutchins. The magazine claims that the 23-year-old mother is homeless, unemployed, and struggling financially. She was reportedly arrested in April on felony charges of breaking and entering.
The Duggars will return to court on November 14 in hopes of making the guardianship permanent.
There is a strong chance that the adoption will be approved, considering Rachel signed a document giving the Duggars guardianship and she had already given up custody to her mother Carolyn, Michelle's sister. Sadly, Carolyn suffered a stroke in July.
It is unknown who the boy's father is. He is not listed on the birth certificate.
Meanwhile, the former “19 Kids and Counting” family continues to make headlines.
On their current TV show “Jill & Jessa: Counting On,” Jinger takes her parents on a tour of her fiancé Jeremy Vuolo's home. Jim Bob scolded Jinger for moving to fast with Jeremy, after they were openly snuggling on the couch and caught on camera in a full frontal hug!
