Morgan Freeman's Step-Granddaughter Murdered in New York City
UPDATE: E'Dena Hines' alleged boyfriend, Lamar Davenport, 30, has been arrested for second-degree murder, reports DailyMail.com.
E'Dena Hines, actor Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter by his first marriage, was stabbed to death in New York City early this morning. She was 33.

Hines, an actress in her own right, was stabbed multiple times in the torso and taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A 30-year-old man, said to be her boyfriend, was found kneeling over her body making what has been described as "religious" statements. A witness told DailyMail.com he heard the man yelling, "Get out, devils. In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out."

He has been taken in for psychiatric evaluation.

Freeman said of Hines in a statement:

"The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace."

Freeman later posted his thanks to fans and well-wishers on his Facebook page:

I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -M

In 2012, Freeman was forced to comment on the perception that he and Hines, who were not blood relatives, had been carrying on a romantic relationship. He strongly denied those rumors.
