For some of the stars at last night's Shop for a Cure benefit at Switch Bel Air, the cause hit close to home.
Max Greenfield with wife Tessa Sanchez
The event, which benefited the Charlotte & Gwenyth Gray Foundation to Cure Batten Disease, attracted Max Greenfield (blond!) and wife Tessa Sanchez, and Kevin and Jamie Zegers. Both couples' concern about the cause (raising cash to fight a disease that strikes young children and is presently fatal) was clearly intensified by the fact that they're expectant parents.

Batten disease is an extremely rare neurological disorder that has struck the young daughters of producer Gordon Gray and his wife Kristen. The foundation is named for them. Stars like Jennifer Garner have issued challenges to their fans to each donate $1 to the Charlotte & Gwenyth Gray Foundation, intimate benefit events have been held, and Julia Roberts recently commissioned a necklace to be sold on behalf of this worthy cause.
