Glenn Beck Reveals 'Health Issues Made Me Look Crazy'
Conservative television and radio personality Glenn Beck has been battling multiple serious and rare ailments in secret.
Beck opened up about his health crisis on TheBlaze on Monday, revealing that five years ago he was hit with debilitating symptoms that took years to diagnose.
“I began to have a string of health issues that made me look crazy, and quite honestly, I have felt crazy because of them,” he said. “My vocal cord paralysis, my strange eyesight problems, and at first what we believed was a very painful form of neuropathy.”
He continued, "It has baffled some of the best doctors in the world. It has frightened me and my family, as we didn't know what was happening."
Eventually, his doctors determined that multiple diseases were to blame, including an autoimmune disorder and adrenal fatigue.
The journey to diagnosis was a painful one. “Out of nowhere, my hands and feet, or arms and legs would feel like someone had just crushed them, set them on fire or pushed broken glass into them,” he said.
He added, "Me never having to sleep was finally understandable. The last sign of adrenal failure is a hyperextension of your adrenal glands. In other words, I didn't need sleep. I could have been lifting cars during my time at FOX!"
At one point, Beck was told that he had five to 10 years left before he would no long be able to function. “I was told to go home, take at least a year off, and enjoy the days with my children.”
Thanks to diagnosis, treatment and lifestyle changes, he has now reversed the process.
"My brain is back online in a big way," he said. "I have received a clean bill of health."
