Casey Kasem in Critical Condition, Family Gathers by His Side
Radio DJ Casey Kasem's family has gathered by his side as he undergoes treatment at a Washington state hospital.
Scott Thompson, a spokesman for St. Anthony's Hospital, tells us that the star, who suffers from Lewy Body dementia, is in critical condition. He is being treated for bed sores, which were present when he was admitted June 1.
“Mr. Kasem is receiving wound care, intravenous antibiotic therapy, blood pressure support medication as well as treatment for his pain,” he said.
Thompson added, “Mr. Kasem is alert appears comfortable at this time.”
People reports that Casey's daughters Kerri and Julie are at the hospital, and that his son Mike is on the way.
A rep for Kerri told the magazine, "His health is worse. We're just not sure how bad at this point,"
The family feud between Kasem's children and wife Jean Kasem played out in a dramatic scene on Sunday. Kerri arrived with an ambulance at the Washington home where Jean and Casey were staying. As she tried to take her father in for medical examination, Jean threw raw hamburger meat her stepdaughter.
