Who Said No to ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’?

It turns out Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson weren't necessarily author E.L. James or Universal's first picks to play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
While fans petition the studio to hire Matthew Bomer and Alexis Bledel instead, the Hollywood Reporter is revealing the names of other actors and actresses courted for the leading roles.
THR says Ryan Gosling passed on playing Grey, a billionaire with a fondness for S&M, while “Tron” star Garrett Hedlund said he couldn't connect with the character. British TV star Christian Cooke was also in the mix, while James was supposedly pushing for Robert Pattinson to get the part.
When it comes to college senior Anastasia, the role could have gone to a number of actresses. Felicity Jones, 30, was a frontrunner, but ultimately considered too old to play the 21-year-old.
Rising star Shailene Woodley was a favorite of James, but had scheduling conflicts. Alicia Vikander, Imogen Poots and Elizabeth Olsen were also in the running.
