Katie Couric Apologizes for Slamming Kim Kardashian: 'I Didn't Mean to Hurt Her'
Talk show host Katie Couric has tried to make amends with reality star Kim Kardashian after questioning the Kardashian family's fame in a recent interview with In Touch magazine.
Following Kim's Instagram post on Friday, accusing Katie of being a "fake media friend," Couric told E! News, "I've met Kim before and I think she's a really sweet person."
Katie continued, "I was responding to a reporter's question, and explaining how I'm intrigued by the public's fascination with her family. I didn't mean to hurt her feelings. The gift is genuine, and I'm happy for Kim and Kanye."
In the original interview, the 56-year-old journalist told In Touch, "I don't understand -- why are they so famous? I think it's mostly teenage girls that are interested."
Kim K responded by posting a photo of the gift Katie sent for baby North West on Instagram with the caption, "#IHateFakeMediaFriends #MayIHumblySuggestYouNotSendGiftsThenTalkShit."
