Steven Tyler Blames Hotel Fall on Bad Food, Not Drugs
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler called in to the "Today" show Thursday and assured host Matt Lauer and fans that his recent slip in a Paraguay hotel room shower did not have anything to do with him falling off the wagon.
Via a phone interview from Argentina, where the band is performing, the rocker explained, "I started to get sick, and I just fell on my face. I just passed out." Tyler said the fall caused him to wind up getting four stitches above his eye and plastic surgery to get a tooth fixed.
The "American Idol" judge insisted it was from food poisoning, not his ongoing recovery from drug and alcohol abuse, which caused him to pass out. "I get that people think that," he said of the assumption that it was from the latter, adding, "It still bothers me a little, but it's something that I have to deal with for the rest of my life."
