Rolling Stone Reveals Finalists in 'Rock & Roll' Star Competition
Rolling Stone magazine has named their top eight finalists in its first-ever "Do You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star?" competition.
The bands were chosen by a combination of consumer votes and Rolling Stone editors' picks. The eight finalists are: Empires (Chicago, IL); Fictionist (Provo, UT); Lelia Broussard (Los Angeles, CA); Mod Sun (Bloomington, MN); Skyler Stonestreet (Los Angeles, CA); Tha Boogie (Rancho Cucamonga, CA); The Romany Rye (Big Bear, CA); The Sheepdogs (Saskatoon, SK)
The final eight acts traveled to New York City last week to record two studio songs and perform for Rolling Stone editors, Atlantic A&R executives and other industry professionals. Check out this sneak peek!
In the coming weeks, consumers will be able to view videos of the performances and access other content on RollingStone.com. By rating the acts, consumers will determine which four will move on to the next round. The advancing acts will return to New York City in April to record and perform another song.
The final two acts will be chosen by consumers' votes and will perform at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in June. The winner will be revealed and will perform on "Late Night wigh Jimmy Fallon" in conjunction with the debut of the August 18 issue of Rolling Stone.
