Rosie O'Donnell: 'I Hope Charlie Gets the Help He Needs'
Rosie O'Donnell is sounding-off on all of today's top celebrity headlines, including Charlie Sheen, who was hospitalized last week and filed for divorce on Monday from his wife of two years, Brooke Mueller.
"I hope Charlie gets the help he needs," Rosie told "Extra" at the Worldwide Orphans Foundation Benefit Gala. "There is help out there, addiction is a serious thing... that disease is deadly and not everybody survives. I know his father very well, I know his brother very well... they're a lovely family."
Dishing on the infamous "View" blowup with Bill O'Reilly, Rosie is siding with her former talk show hosts. "I certainly think anyone has the right to say 'I don't want to participate in this' and get up and go," O'Donnell said. "There's a lot of strong-willed women on that show, and that's what the show is. You're supposed to say your opinion and sometimes it gets noisy."
On her friend Portia de Rossi talking about her battle with anorexia and bulimia in her new book, "Unbearable Lightness," Rosie said, "I thought it was very honest and revealing. I did 'Ally McBeal' right around the time where not everyone was eating on that show. There was a lot of tension on that set."
O'Donnell will be making her talk show return when she launches her new show this January on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network.
