Farrah to Fans: Hold On to Hope
In response to tabloid reports that Farrah Fawcett is in grave condition, her rep has released a statement about the star's condition. The 62-year-old actress has been hospitalized in Los Angeles since Thursday. She has been battling cancer since 2006.
"On Farrah Fawcett's behalf, I can confirm that she recently checked into a Los Angeles hospital," Farrah's rep, Craig Nevius, tells "Extra" in the statement, "and although it is usually against her nature to correct false or exaggerated stories that originate in tabloid style reports by offering true information that those 'journalists' would not otherwise have to publish, Farrah is allowing this statement out of appreciation for her fans, who have offered their constant support throughout her fight, as well as out of concern for the countless of other cancer patients who have written to her to say that they are following her story in the hope that there is hope."
He adds, "Tonight, Farrah has hope and she hopes that others will continue to hold onto theirs -- in spite of what they read."
According to Farrah's physician, the actress suffered a blood clot and was hospitalized to treat the hematoma.
It is rumored that Fawcett's longtime love, Ryan O'Neal, has been by her side. Their child together, Redmond O'Neal, was arrested for drugs in Los Angeles on Sunday, and is being held on $25,000 bail. Both Ryan and Raymond were arrested were arrested for felony methamphetamine possession in September.
