'Footloose' Loses Zac Efron!
Disney prince Zac Efron has pulled out of the remake of the 1984 hit "Footloose" after being in talks to reprise the lead role of Ren McCormack for the flick.
Paramount Pictures confirmed to "Extra" that the "High School Musical" star pulled out of the project, with Paramount reps saying, "Footloose is a project we've longed to see re-booted for a new generation. While Zac is no longer attached, we remain excited and committed to the collective brain trust of Kenny Ortega, Neil Meron and Craig Zaden, who will reinvigorate the franchise. Their fresh take on the film will undoubtedly be filled with the same kind of breakout performances that we've come to expect from them."
While Efron has yet to say publicly why he pulled out of the musical project, he has recently expressed a desire to try out edgier roles. Zac is currently in Europe promoting his new film, "17 Again."
