Rielle's Pal: She Was 'Head over Heels' for Edwards

Before her affair with John Edwards landed in the tabloids and shocked the nation, Rielle Hunter was an enlightenment-seeking drifter who fell hard for the former senator, a pal of the blonde tells the LA Times.
Pigeon O'Brien describes Hunter's feelings for Edwards as "head over heels." She details how Rielle confessed to her about the illicit affair, and how John allegedly promised they'd end up together. "She said he assured her she shouldn't have doubts," said Pigeon.
At first, both the senator and Rielle denied the affair -- and Hunter had nothing but heaps of praise for John when she talked to "Extra" in 2006. "He was very real and authentic," she said. "He was inspirational to me."
Edwards admitted last month to his affair with Rielle, stating that the two were intimate during 2006, while Hunter filmed a documentary on the Democrat. Despite speculation from the press, Edwards has denied fathering Hunter's 5-month-old baby, Frances Quinn.
