Profile of a Prostitute

The sex worker behind resigning Governor Spitzer's sex scandal has been identified as 22-year-old Ashley Youmans, more recently known as Ashley Alexandra Dupre, a wannabe singer from New Jersey, whose nom de hook is "Kristen."
Now "Extra" is learning new tidbits about the most wanted woman in New York. Ashley details her painful past on her MySpace page, saying that she ran away at 17, leaving behind abuse, drugs, and "a broken family." She moved to the Big Apple in 2004, but it's unknown exactly how long she'd been with the Emperor's Club VIP service. The page also curiously says, "What destroys me strengthens me." This morning, most of the information disappeared from the page -- just like the governor's career.
Ashley's family is in seclusion on the Jersey shore. "Extra" has learned that Ashley's mother and second husband, an oral surgeon, live the good life in a beautiful mansion -- but sources tell "Extra" that Ashley considers her stepfather her real dad.
In a phone interview with The New York Times on Tuesday, Ashley said, "I just don't want to be identified as a monster," adding, "This has been a very difficult time. It is complicated." When asked how she met Governor Spitzer, she had no comment.
Ashley's attorney told a judge Monday that Ashley has not been charged, but has been subpoenaed to testify in front of a grand jury.
